Aerial Photos
Below is a picture of downtown Lafayette taken by the United States Geological Survey (U.S. Department of the Interior) in 1997.

The center of town (the Courthouse) is in the
middle of the picture (left to right) and about 1/3 of the way down (top to
bottom).

This is a larger view of the area. Note
that the downtown area has moved to the left and down.
You can go to this link to find more pictures of Lafayette, Macon County, Tennessee and the entire USA. This is a web site maintained by Microsoft. Once you get there, just click on the "Advanced Find" section, then "Address Search" and enter a street address, city and/or zip code. If you look closely, you should be able to find your house!
At the top of each screen in the Microsoft web site, there is a link for "Small", "Medium", and "Large" photos. You can click on these links to change the picture size displayed. (The two pictures of Lafayette we have shown above are examples of a small and a medium photo.)
On the Microsoft web site, you also have the ability to zoom in and zoom out on the photos. Macon County Constable Tom Dallas reports that if you zoom in to 1 mile, you can see the circular arrangement of cars around the courthouse!
